The flight to Barcelona was under 2 hours and once again my luggage arrived on time and in the right place! I didn't have to go through customs because I had already entered the European Union in Switzerland and then Belgium so they didn't check my passport. Subsequently they also didn't check my visa! Waste of $160.00? No, I think it'll come in handy eventually.
I found a taxi and showed him the address from the e-mail the Norma had sent me:
Carrer de Valencia 92, 1 1
Barcelona , 8025
Espana
The ride was short, under a half an hour, and we pulled up outside the apartment (or at least what we thought was the apartment!).
I buzzed her apartment and she answered luckily and I managed to stuff my luggage into the elevator and go up.
I met her and she showed me my room and then I drank a glass of water and we talked. Conversation was fine, I had a very accurate idea of how my Spanish would fair and I'm pretty much as fluent as I thought I was.
We talked for little bit and also met her daughter Jasmin who is 14. I asked about the information for the wi-fi as I was eager to connect with people after my travels and let them know I had arrived. I stayed in my room and unpacked and relaxed until she called me for dinner. Dinner was a potato espanol which is like a potato quiche type thing:
With two small hamburger patties and a small salad. She also served me beer which she says they drink on weekends.
After dinner I returned to my room for a bit and then watched TV with Jasmin and then I went to bed around 11:30PM.
Pretty uneventful but moving in to a new city with a new home and family takes a lot of energy.
